You can feel the disappointment around Moderne Boca and throughout the area. Many East Coast transplants are in mourning over the recent announcement that the Carnegie Deli, a true New York staple for over eight decades, is closing its doors at the end of the year. However, we have come to save the day! Despite losing such an integral piece of fabric to the city, you can find true, east coast style deli’s all over the map in Boca Raton. With the meat piled high and the fresh breads from white to rye, residents of Moderne Boca are within minutes of Boca Raton’s best deli’s!
Ben’s New York Kosher Delicatessen
There are plenty of places that consider themselves New York style delis, but this place actually hails from the original five boroughs (it has locations in Manhattan, Queens, and Long Island). It offers everything you’d find up north: whole rotisserie-roasted empire kosher chickens, beef-tongue Polonaise with raisin gravy, homemade stuffed derma, noodle pudding, kasha varnishkas, spinach logs, potato knishes, braised beef brisket, chicken in a pot, Hungarian goulash.
And then there’s the sandwiches. Served on chewy rye, it has all the meats one would hope for, including tongue, salami, pastrami, and house-pickled corned beef.
Zinger’s serves one of the best deli fare that can be found. Everything is made in-house, from the pastrami, corned beef, and brisket to the award-winning matzo ball soup.
It may be a modern version of a relic, but there’s a good reason we have fond memories of the past.
TooJay’s Gourmet Deli
With over 24 locations throughout the state, this gourmet deli is an institution in Florida. Each one offers glistening cases of sweets and salads, like egg salad, dill chicken salad, whitefish, and black and white cookies. It offers all the Jewish classics: matzo ball soup, stuffed cabbage, crunchy potato latkes, and cheese blintzes.
And the sandwiches are as bona fide as you’ll get with selections ranging from hot corned beef and pastrami to reubens and brisket, each of which is served on your choice of freshly baked rye, whole wheat, challah, bagel, or deli roll.
Juniors Restaurant at Mizner Park
With the sad news of Carnegie’s closing also comes exciting news for those New Yorkers who call Boca home. Juniors is heading south! The East Coast sensations since 1950 recently opened a new location at Mizner Park and will be dishing out their world-famous corned beef and pastrami sandwiches and of course the cheesecakes.
The 270-seat eatery features a full bar and offers retail bakery and take-out.
These wonderful delis’ may make you feel like your back up in northeast, but communities like Kolter Urban’s Moderne Boca will make you remember why you came to Florida. Located in the heart of Boca Raton, Moderne Boca offers posh South Florida living with resort-style amenities. Stunning architecture and lush tropical landscape surrounded by world-class golf, nature preserves, endless shopping and of course great dining. But it’s the refreshing contemporary architecture that sets Moderne Boca apart from every other community in Mizner’s Boca Raton.
