BOCA RATON – One of area’s newest and most popular public parks is located just around the corner from Moderne Boca, the exciting new Kolter community offering refreshing modern architecture in the heart of Boca Raton. On any given Saturday morning, the Spanish River Athletic Complex is buzzing with activity. The multi-purpose park is located on Spanish River Boulevard, just across the street from the new Spanish River Regional Library and within a quarter mile of Moderne Boca. Both the Spanish River Athletic Facility and the Pondhawk Preserve are home to manicured trails that provide opportunities for personal fitness and self-reflection.
Although residents of Moderne Boca will enjoy a private swimming pool with exercise laps and on-site fitness center, there’s no substitute for enjoying a workout outdoors in our South Florida paradise. The Countess de Hoernle Park (also known as the Spanish River Athletic Facility) is the preferred destination by fitness enthusiasts of all ages.
The city-owned park first opened in 2012. The park came to life on land once owned by the IBM corporation with a $13.9 million investment by the city of Boca Raton. The park was built with a recreational theme in mind, with a particular focus on sports. The facility features four baseball-softball fields and four soccer fields, as well as one soccer-centric and one baseball-centric building on the premises. A children’s playground with benches conveniently placed in the middle for parents’ supervision.
Perhaps the most utilized amenity are the trails that run throughout the park and surround a 20-acre lake. The trails also lead to the Spanish River Library and Pond Hawk Natural Area. Walkers, joggers, cyclist and roller bladders are constantly in motion taking advantage of the picturesque community gathering place.
For spectators who enjoy a sense of competition, the park hosts a variety of sporting events throughout the year. Looking for something to do in the evening? Many visitors walk the trails while watching local leagues competing on the playing fields. Residents at Moderne Boca may also enjoy cheering for the Fighting Knights at Lynn University, located adjacent to the community on Military Trail. This top Division 2 school regularly welcomes top competition from visiting Universities throughout the country.
Phase I construction at Moderne Boca is nearing completion, and the first of two designer decorator models is now available to tour. Many of the contemporary-designed, three-story residences include private interior elevators and all offer two-car garages with ample storage for bicycles and other sporting equipment.
