The untouched Florida landscape makes a picture perfect scene, with sunrises, sunsets, thunderstorms, nestling birds and dazzling lush green views. Boca Raton’s Pondhawk Nature Preserve, situated on the edge of Boca Raton’s premiere luxury neighborhood, Moderne Boca, is a shining example of what the Sunshine State has to offer. Captain Kimo, one of South Florida’s most respected landscape photographers, was able to capture the environment’s natural beauty. His signature imagery, often using the bright tropical colors and Florida wildlife as inspiration for his work.
Captain Kimo, who’s real name is Kim Seng, specializes in HDR Photography. A self-professed coffee connoisseur, techno geek and world traveler, his photos have been published and exhibited in several magazines and galleries throughout South Florida. As a 1999 graduate from the Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale, Kimo specializes in spectacular landscapes that feature Florida’s natural wonders.
Pondhawk Nature Preserve is one of Captain Kimo’s favorite nature preserves. Unlike most nature preserves, this slice of paradise was formerly a slough that served as part of South Florida’s intricate wetland system. It was later converted into a protected natural habitat, to be enjoyed by the residents and nature enthusiasts.
The entire preserve stretches about 79 acres, with two natural-surface paths branching off a paved path that provide more than two miles of hiking. Often, walking these trails will introduce you to shaded areas, hiding animals such as gopher tortoises, red tail hawks, bald eagles, and cloudless sulphur butterflies, all perfect subjects for the budding explorer and photographer.
Captain Kimo recently captured this stunning sunrise from the terrace at Moderne Boca, being developed by Kolter in Boca Raton. The dramatic images showcase Pondhawk Nature Preserve’s natural beauty and the vibrant colors. This peaceful sanctuary for wildlife is also home to miles of trails that allow Boca Raton residents to explore this magnificent habitat. For residents at Moderne Boca, it couldn’t be more convenient.
